Pantry Essentials

Here are some of the things I frequently pick up at the grocery store!

  • Fruits
  • Milk (usually soy or hazelnut)
  • Rolled oats
  • Natural sweeteners
  • Yogurt
  • Flours
  • Bread
  • Coconut oil

I use it for cooking and baking. The brands I like are Silk, Natura and Pacific Foods.

  • Unsweetened – best for cooking (I use this a lot in making sauces for my pastas)
  • Vanilla – best for making sweet treats AND to add to coffee
  • Chocolate – best for adding to coffee because mocha is love

  1. Honey
  2. Pure maple syrup
  3. Muscovado sugar
  4. Demerara sugar
  5. Sugar-free all natural fruit jams (eg St Dalfour)

It should not contain sugar, sucrose, cream, gelatin, starch, etc… Chobani and Fage are great!

  1. Spelt (can substitute with all purpose flour 1:1 without altering much flavour and texture. Do note to not overwork the batter as the baked good can get tough if you do)
  2. Barley (similar to spelt flour)
  3. Whole wheat (gives the best texture when combined with barley flour)
  4. White whole wheat (works well on it’s own too)
  5. Oat (just blend rolled oats into flour using food processor) It’s a good alternative if you don’t want to spend money investing in the above. I find that using oat flour makes the batter less thick so adjustments are needed. Do also note that baked goods will not rise as much.)

  1. Raw cacao powder
  2. Unsweetened 100% cocoa powder (eg Hershey’s)
  3. Quinoa
  4. Chia seeds
  5. Dark chocolate
  6. Tea
  7. Coffee – I love the Columbia blend from Jewel Coffee (I buy from Jewel Coffee and ask them to grind it for me because I use paper coffee filters) and I also love Vietnamese coffee
  8. Nuts
  9. Pics Really Good Smooth Peanut butter (I only like this brand. It’s the best!)
  10. Raising agents for baking
  11. Dates
  12. Raisins
  13. Coconut flakes

The above list focused more on baking than cooking. In my house, savoury foods are my mom’s specialty, not me xD

Hello (: I had the same question about cameras, and i’m amazed to hear you use your phone! Your photos are truly flawless 😛 For me, i have a Samsung core so the camera isn’t that great, which is really frustrating, so i’m saving up for a camera. I was wondering how you make your photos look so amazing? do you use an app? and i can’t get the hang of styling food to look good for the camera, any tips?
thank you so much! I looove your recipes ❤ ❤

      2. Hey Lauren! Thank you so much! I edit my photos using vscocam and snapseed but that’s about it 😁 I’ll say just style it based on how you feel. Don’t focus on styling to impress others but enjoy the whole process and it will look and taste fabulous 😉💕

  2. Where did you buy spelt/barley flour?? I tried to find them at supermarkets and bakery shop but they did not know and never heard about those type of flour..

    1. I buy them from my local supermarkets. If you can’t find them locally I suggest you get them from iherb. It’s cheaper too!
